Sun and warmer temperatures are expected to make for a pleasant weekend on Long Island with rain not even a mentioned in the forecast until Thursday night.

The National Weather Service said Friday night that it will be sunny Saturday on the Island with a high temperature near 54 degrees and a west wind of just 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Saturday night is expected to have mostly clear skies with a low temperature around 32 degrees.

Sunday should bring more sun and a high near 57 degrees.

The weather service said the workweek will start Monday under mostly sunny skies with a high temperature in of about 54 degrees. Rain only becomes a possibility Thursday night when there is a 30% chance of showers. Friday has a 40% chance of showers.

High temperatures between Tuesday and Friday should range in the mid to high 50s, the weather service said.
