The National Weather Service says Friday’s overcast skies will harbor a late afternoon rain that could switch over to light snow shortly after midnight, but it is not expected to add up to more than a dusting.  News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman has the forecast. Clouds on Saturday morning are expected to give way on Long Island to mostly clear skies that will stay until Monday when the high temperature could reach a balmy 60 degrees.

The National Weather Service said Friday night that late Saturday morning the sky will gradually clear with a high temperature during the day near 46 degrees. A north wind should blow between 13 and 17 mph.

Saturday night should be mostly clear, with a low around 28.

"The wind will diminish for Saturday night into Sunday as high pressure settles just south of the region. This will provide dry weather and moderating temperatures for the second half of the weekend," the weather service said in its regional summary Friday afternoon.

Sunday on Long Island is expected to be sunny with a high near 54.

Monday should be mostly sunny with a high near 60 but the forecast calls for Monday night to be mostly cloudy.

The weather service said Tuesday will bring a 30% chance of showers after noon with showers likely at night. The high temperature Tuesday should be near 58 and a low that night around 44.

Wednesday should be partly sunny with a high near 55.
