Long Island saw mostly light rain spread across the area Friday, and it was expected to wind up by about 9 p.m.

Some spots saw sleet mixed in earlier in the day. Brian Ciemnecki, National Weather Service meteorologist, observed that combination at his Upton office. The day's precipitation was not expected to make “much of an impact,” Ciemnecki said.

Though conditions will be dry overnight, one thing to watch for, he said, is temperatures falling below 32 degrees, which could cause any still-wet roadways to glaze over.

Temperatures are expected to dip to the low 30s for early morning Saturday, with the first day of December bringing some sunshine before chances of showers in the afternoon and rain overnight into Sunday, the weather service said.

Temperatures rise to the mid-40s Saturday and stay there into Sunday, with a warmup expected Sunday into Monday. That’s to the tune of close to 60 degrees Sunday and the mid-50s for Monday, which brings mostly sunny skies, according to the weather service.

Tuesday brings us back down to the low 40s for highs.
