So, what are we getting for weather the first weekend in June?

“Super Saturday should be great, as we kick off the month of June,” said Rich Von Ohlen, News 12 meteorologist.  That’s following a “crazy week” that saw three Long Island evening commutes disrupted by rain, heavy at times; some thunderstorm activity; even a bit of hail.

Some areas could see patchy fog in the morning, but Saturday features mostly sunny skies and temperatures rising to the mid-70s, forecasters say.

The normal high for the day at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 72 degrees, with 55 the normal low.

There are chances for showers Sunday, even thunderstorms, but the expectation is for them to hold off until later in the day, Von Ohlen said. Temperatures are forecast to rise to the low 70s.

Indeed, the National Weather Service said, “a passing shower or thunderstorm is possible Sunday morning,” but the better chance is for Sunday night, as a cold front moves through.
