Long Islanders should prepare for a wet, chilly week, with a chance for light snow on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

But first, the Monday forecast calls for unusually warm temperatures near 60 degrees, a 60% chance of rain mainly before 10 a.m., and wind gusts up to 33 mph.

Showers are likely for Monday night, mostly before 10 p.m. with gusts increasing to up to 36 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a 10th of an inch are forecast, the weather service said.

A mostly sunny Tuesday will see a drop in temperature to a high of just 42. The night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 31 and calm winds.

A mix of rain and snow is likely Wednesday, changing over to all snow after 3 p.m., the weather service said. There will be a 60% chance of precipitation and a possible new snow accumulation of less than a half inch. Snow is likely to continue at night with a low around 27.

"At this point we’re not thinking it will be a significant event, but be aware that there is a chance for some snow showers or mixed rain and snow showers on Wednesday," Dominic Ramunni of the National Weather Service said.

Thursday's forecast looks sunny with highs in the 40s and an overnight low of 32. There is a chance of snow and rain at night, according to the weather service.

Chances of rain are predicted all day on Saturday, with highs in the 50s and nighttime low in the low 40s.

Sunday will continue the trend with a 50% chance of showers and a high near 52.
