After a warm Sunday, clouds and showers are in the offing for the start of the workweek, the National Weather Service said.

Beginning overnight, rain will arrive and last, on and off, through Monday and possibly Tuesday.

Temperatures will continue to be somewhat warm for this time of year with highs in the low 70s all week.

The average temperature at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip for the day is 67 degrees, according to the weather service.

Showers are likely Monday with a chance of thunderstorms after 3 p.m. The rain extends overnight until Tuesday when there is a 30% chance of showers Tuesday morning.

Tuesday afternoon will be cloudy but dry and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are predicted to be partly to mostly sunny, the weather service said.

Friday night brings a 30% chance of showers which stretches into Saturday when the high will be in the lower 70s, forecasters said.
