Long Island forecast: Wet weather possible day before Thanksgiving
Those taking to the roads and skies on Wednesday — the day before Thanksgiving — will want to know that there are chances of showers from the early morning hours through about midmorning, the National Weather Service said.
Showers will be likelier for areas to the east of the William Floyd Parkway and timed closer to about daybreak, said Jay Engle, weather service meteorologist in Upton, based on the late Monday afternoon forecast. In all, areas of Suffolk could see close to a half-inch of rainfall, he said, with Nassau possibly around a tenth of an inch.
Wednesday’s temperatures on Long Island are expected to reach the mid-50s, with Thanksgiving Day on Thursday bringing sunny skies and cooler conditions — with highs around the low 40s.
Friday is expected to be sunny and just a few degrees warmer.
