Tuesday on Long Island brings another bout of rain, along with the much-anticipated midterm elections.
For those who want to avoid the wet conditions, the best time to head to the polls will be in the morning and early afternoon, said Bill Korbel, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.
It’s then you’ll find “just clouds ... maybe some early fog and drizzle,” he said.
Heavier showers move in from early to midafternoon and continue through the evening, he said.
Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
That steady rain could start developing as early as late morning in far western areas, moving east across the rest of the Island during the afternoon, the National Weather Service said in a tweet.
The expectation is for a line of moderate to heavy rain, and any possible embedded thunderstorms that form would bring strong, gusty winds, said Jay Engle, weather service meteorologist in Upton.
Temperatures Tuesday are expected to rise to the mid-60s.
Wednesday and Thursday then bring plenty of sunshine, warming up to around 60 and the mid-50s, respectively.
Then, it’s back to rain on Friday, also warming up to the mid-50s.
Conditions then take a turn for the cold side starting Saturday, with Sunday, Veteran’s Day, looking to warm up only the mid-40s or so.
