Long Island weather: Sunny and cool before showers Monday and Tuesday
Long Islanders can expect an "unsettled" start to the workweek with cool temperatures and rain expected Monday and Tuesday, forecasters said.
Temperatures will stay “seasonable or slightly below normal” Monday, with highs in the mid-50s, Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Upton bureau, said Sunday evening.
Rain will develop in the morning moving across the Island from west to east, and taper off Monday evening, he said .
Temperatures will start to rise into Tuesday, with highs in the low- to mid-60s.
It’s expected to be a wet Election Day, with heavy rain in the early afternoon into evening, before clearing up into Wednesday, Engle said.
Close to an inch of rain is expected between Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 62 and a low of 44, said Carlie Buccola, a meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau.
Thursday will see more sunny weather with a high near 55 degrees and a low of 44.
On Friday, cloudy skies will return with a 50 percent chance of showers with a high of 57 and a low of about 44.
Saturday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 53.
