Long Island weather: Morning showers, followed by sun, clouds and temps in high 70s

The workweek has started off with some light showers, set to give way to dry skies, even some sunshine, later Monday, forecasters say. That’s as it looks like Friday is the next time precipitation enters the picture.
Indeed, “most of our week will be dry,” said News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman.
Look for a mix of sun and clouds Monday, tilting more toward sun as the day proceeds, he said. Temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees.
By around 10 a.m. Long Island MacArthur Airport was reporting cloudy skies and a temperature of 74. The normal high for the day at the Ronkonkoma airport is 82, with 66 the normal low.
Moving along, “high pressure continues to build in tonight and Tuesday, continuing dry weather,” said the National Weather Service in Upton. Its forecast is for sunny or mostly sunny skies with temperatures around the mid-80s — that’s until we reach Friday.
The workweek is ending with chances of showers, forecasters say.
The weekend, though? Hoffman says we can expect “warm, sunny weather … with highs in the 80s.”
