Sunny skies and mostly dry temperatures await Long Islanders as the calendar turns to spring later this week, forecasters said.

It will be mostly sunny on Monday as Long Islanders return to work, with temperatures reaching a high of 43 and dropping into the low 30s overnight, said Carlie Buccola, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.

Similar weather is expected for Tuesday, with a high near 45 and a low around 30, according to the weather service.

"It's a very slow and quiet start to the week," Buccola said.

The calendar turns to spring on Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high near 49 degrees — typical for this time of the year.

There is a chance of showers on Thursday with a high of the low 50s but the sun returns Friday with temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s, the Weather Service said.
