Beautiful, but breezy.

That's the weather in store for Long Islanders Monday and Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

Climbing out of a cool weekend, temperatures will be in the mid-60s both days, with abundant sunshine and steady northeast winds — gusts up to 23 mph Monday and 15 to 20 mph Tuesday, forecasters said. Nights the lows those days will be in the low 40s with steady breezes that will make it feel cooler.

Wednesday, the winds slow down a bit to gusts of about 14 mph along with sunny skies, then Wednesday night the low is just 50 degrees with calm winds.

Thursday and Friday look to be sunny, with little breeze and highs inching up into the high 60s.

There's a chance of showers Friday night and into the weekend, with some rain likely both Saturday and Sunday, although temperatures will remain in the high 60s, the weather service said.

There's a small craft warning in effect Monday for the Long Island Sound and for ocean waters and bays from Sandy Hook, N.J., to Fire Island Inlet through 6 p.m. Tuesday. There's a gale warning in effect from Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point and for all Atlantic Ocean waters along the continental shelf from Sandy Hook to Montauk through 2 a.m. Tuesday.
