Thickening clouds overnight will lead to showers Tuesday on Long Island, forecasters said, with falling temperatures bringing a mix of rain and snow by Thursday afternoon.
The overnight low will be 35 degrees before a daytime high Tuesday in the low 50s. Showers and patchy fog are likely, mostly between noon and 2 p.m. with a low at night of 48 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday means more rain and fog, with a high of 62, before the temperature plunges to 28 after dark under mostly cloudy skies.
Long Islanders will awaken Thursday to more clouds before a 30% chance of rain and snow after 1 p.m. and a high of 38. The rain will change over to snow Thursday night before a wintry mix sets in, the weather service said, with a low of 31.
Friday looks to be a washout with the chance of rain at 100%, and a high of 38 before the temperature dips at night to 19.
Fortunately, sunny skies should return Saturday and Sunday.
Unfortunately, highs both days will barely crack the freezing mark — with a high of 33 degrees predicted Saturday and a high of 37 degrees predicted Sunday.
