The sun’s out, the temperature is hovering in the low 80s and light winds are making for a wonderful summer day.

The humidity is, however, expected to begin to increase late in the day Monday, the National Weather Service said. It also warned of a high risk for rip currents for Suffolk County ocean beaches Monday.

While forecasters said there’s a chance of showers overnight into Tuesday, much of the week is expected to be mostly sunny and clear. The weather service predicts we even could touch 90 degrees here on Wednesday.

“We’ll start off Tuesday with some showers around,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

But, according to the Weather Service, the chance of showers on Tuesday is around 20 percent. And, though there also could be areas of patchy fog, as the day progresses it is expected to be partly sunny — en route to a sunny Wednesday and Thursday, before we face the possibility of showers Thursday night and a chance of thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.
