An incoming cold front brings the chance of showers Friday afternoon into the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service.

The service’s Upton office said the odds for rain on Long Island increase as the day moves on.

The Friday forecast also includes mostly cloudy skies, light east winds and daily highs pushing into the low 60s, the service’s Upton office said.

After midnight, skies clear and winds shift to the west at 5 to 10 mph. Overnight lows are in the low 50s, News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

Saturday starts with mostly sunshine before afternoon clouds move in, he said.

“Showers and maybe a thunderstorm develop between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.,” Hoffman said, “but some areas of Long Island could stay dry until after 6 p.m., especially in eastern Suffolk County.”

Highs Saturday are expected near 70.
