Wednesday morning could bring a chance of lingering scattered showers as well as cloudy skies, but don’t let that get you down.

By around noon or so, the sun should be reigning in the sky, as temperatures head up to the low 80s, said Carlie Buccola, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton. The normal high for the day at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 70 degrees.

“Sunshine will return on Wednesday courtesy of high pressure, which sticks around through the start of the weekend,” the weather service said in its late Tuesday afternoon regional summary.

Then comes a string of sunny or mostly sunny days: Thursday, warming up to the mid-70s, and Friday and Saturday, warming up to the low 80s.

This, of course, can last only so long. The weather service says that chances of rain enter the picture for Sunday and Monday, which is Memorial Day.
