Mother Nature’s temperamental behavior will continue over the next few days on Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday's mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s has given way to a chance of showers overnight into Sunday morning, the weather service said. The low will be about 58.
Sunday will be slightly cooler with temperatures in the low 70s, but there's a 50 percent chance of rain with gusty winds after 11 a.m., the weather service said.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely by Sunday evening, with temperatures dipping into the 50s. The possibility of "strong to severe" thunderstorms Sunday afternoon into the evening led the National Weather Service to issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Long Island's South Shore bays and western Long Island Sound.
There’s a 70 percent chance of rain after midnight into Monday morning. Wind gusts could hit up to 20 mph, the forecast said. As much as a quarter of an inch of rain is predicted, the weather service said.
It’s expected to be mostly sunny Monday with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs will reach into the upper 60s. The lows will dip to the lower 50s, the forecast said.
Another chance for rain is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service.
