Long Island weather: Sunny Sunday but rain coming

Sunday and the coming week on Long Island will be mostly cool and likely rainy, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service forecast a sunny Sunday with a high near 58 degrees. But temperatures are expected to drop to a low of 44 degrees with a 30% chance of rain early Monday morning.
Sunday will be “fair weather with a cold front moving through tomorrow night,” Jim Connolly, a meteorologist with the weather service in Upton, said Saturday afternoon. “It will be a little cooler on Monday with a chance of a shower.”
Monday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 54 degrees.
Rain may return Tuesday after 3 p.m. Otherwise, Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 58 degrees, according to the weather service. There may be more rain, a 30% chance of showers, before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Wednesday will be mostly clear with temperature highs in the lower 50s. Thursday will be partly sunny with a 40% chance of showers.
The chance of rain is expected to increase to 60% Thursday night, and it's likely showers could continue Friday. Temperatures will be in the high 50s on Friday, which will be mostly cloudy.
