Cooler temperatures are expected to continue Sunday with a chance for showers later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to top out in the 50s this week, meteorologist James Connelly said. Lows will dip into the 40s. The cooler temperatures are expected to linger most of the week.
Sunday’s weather is expected to be partly sunny with temperatures reaching the mid-50s — unseasonably cool for this time of year. The average high is typically 61, Connelly said.
“Generally speaking, it’s a little below average this week,” he said.
Long Islanders will likely see rain Tuesday afternoon and evening, Connelly said. The rain could linger through Wednesday, especially on the East End, he said. Tuesday could be the warmest day this week, when temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s.
The rest of the week is expected to stay dry and mild after the midweek showers.
