Long Island weather: 'Lovely' dry weather for final weekend of August
The final weekend of August will have "lovely, lovely weather," forecasters said.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Bruce Avery labeled it "a really nice weekend for any kind of outside activity."
It will be sunny Saturday with light winds and temperatures reaching the low 80s and dropping to the mid-60s at night, near normal, the National Weather Service said.
"It will be warm, just not all that humid," Avery said.
Sunday will also be mostly sunny, with highs in the low 80s and lows near 70, and "noticeably more humid," the weather service said.
Humidity and heat will increase into early next week, the weather service said. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to have temperatures near 90, with storms possible late Wednesday, Avery said. Thursday could also see storms.
Showers are possible Friday, the start of the holiday weekend and a heavy travel day, Avery said. Labor Day weekend "starts with a fall feel," he said, with much cooler temperatures.
