Sunday will bring warmer weather to Long Island as it kicks off a week that may be entirely free of precipitation.

The National Weather Service on Saturday evening was predicting that a high-pressure area Sunday would bring sunny skies and a high temperature near 45 degrees, although wind chill values will be between 20 and 30 degrees as a west wind blows at 10 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 31 mph.

The normal high for the date in Islip is 43 degrees.

The high recorded Saturday was 35 degrees at 3:49 p.m.

Sunday night some clouds will move in and there will be a slight chance of showers before 10 p.m. then a slight chance of flurries between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., with a low temperature of around 21 degrees. The weather service puts the chance of precipitation at just 20%.

Monday is expected to be sunny with a high near 33 degrees.

Partly to mostly clear skies are expected for the rest of the week. High temperatures each day through Saturday should be in the low to mid 40s, the weather service said.
