Temperatures are expected to cool slightly Sunday before warming back up throughout the week, the National Weather Service said.

Sunday will be clear and sunny with temperatures maxing out in the low 80s, meteorologist James Connolly said. Sunday night will be “unseasonably mild” forecasters said, with temperatures dipping to below 70.

Things will heat back up Monday to the mid-80s, though it will be a bit cooler along the South Shore, Connolly said.

Temperatures will remain in the mid-80s on Tuesday and could even reach the high-80s on the North Shore. Long Island could see rain showers and thunderstorms beginning Tuesday afternoon, the weather service said.

The chance of rain will linger Wednesday. A cold front moving across Long Island on Thursday will dry things out and bring slightly cooler weather, Connolly said. Humidity will be low.

The weather on Friday is expected to be the best of the week: clear and in the upper 70s, Connolly said.
