This weekend is expected to be warm and mostly dry on Long Island after light rain Saturday morning, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki.
Saturday’s high temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. Clouds should remain through the morning, then clear up in the afternoon, Ciemnecki said.
“It’s not going to be hot-hot, but we’re going to have the warmer, more seasonal temperatures return,” he told Newsday. “Today will be mostly cloudy to start. We should get some breaks later in the afternoon with some warming conditions.”
The meteorologist added that, “We’re looking at mainly dry conditions for the rest of the day” after Saturday morning showers “moved off to the east.”
Thunderstorms are possible late Saturday night as a cold front moves across the region. But after that, Ciemnecki expects conditions to remain dry into early next week.
“We’re expecting drier conditions for tomorrow [with] temperatures in the upper 80s,” he said. “And then similar for Monday — middle-to-upper 80s. And again, I believe we’re looking at mainly dry conditions.”
There is a chance of rain Monday night, and then again on Saturday, according to the weather service.
