Long Island weather: Increasing clouds and cooler
Sunday will see increasing clouds with cooler temperatures more typical of mid-October on Long Island.
Friday evening the National Weather Service was predicting Sunday will be a dry day with a high temperature near 65 degrees and a northwest wind of 9 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Saturday, the temperature rose to 73 degrees just before 3 p.m. in Islip, 9 degrees warmer than the normal high for the date. On Friday the high was a summery 77 degrees.
The weather service said Sunday night would be partly cloudy with a low around crisp 47 degrees.
Monday, the start of the workweek, there is a chance of sprinkles after noon, with an expected high temperature near 62 degrees.
Tuesday though Friday will be partly to mostly sunny with high temperatures ranging from 67 to 70 degrees, according to the weather service.
