Sunday will start a four-day stretch where there is no precipitation in Long Island's weather forecasts.

The National Weather Service said Saturday evening that after a slight chance of showers Saturday night, Sunday will be sunny with a high temperature near 77 degrees -- just a bit above normal for the date -- and a north wind of 6 to 10 mph.

Saturday at Republic Airport in Farmingdale the high temperature was 84 degrees late in the afternoon.

Sunday night is also expected to be clear with a low around 60 degrees.

Skies over Long Island are expected to be at least partly clear until Wednesday night when there will be a 50% chance of showers after 8 p.m.

Thursday also will have a 50% chance of showers before mostly sunny skies return Friday, the weather service said.

Daytime high temperatures were predicted to reach the mid 70s Monday through Thursday before slipping a bit to about 72 degrees Friday.
