Long Island weather: More pleasant autumn conditions Sunday, Monday

Sunday is expected to match Saturday's pleasant early fall weather while Monday should keep it going before showers possibly arrive Monday evening.

The National Weather Service said Friday evening that Sunday on Long Island will be sunny with a high temperature near 74 degrees, while a northwest wind blows at 7 to 14 mph.

Sunday evening should be mostly clear with a low dipping down to about 56 degrees.

The forecast for Monday calls for sunny skies with a high near 77 degrees.

Starting Monday evening after 9 p.m., however, there is a 20% chance of showers. Tuesday has a 30% chance of showers.

The last three days of the workweek should then be partly to mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper 60s, the weather service said.
