Long Island weather: More sun but rain coming
Long Island residents Sunday, should be able to enjoy more beautiful spring weather but rain is on the way.
The National Weather Service said Saturday evening that Sunday, the first day of May, will be sunny with a high temperature reaching around 64 degrees, which would be the normal high for the date in Islip. A northwest wind of 5 mph to 9 mph will shift to coming out of the south in the afternoon.
Sunday night, however, the is a 50% chance of showers, mainly after 11 p.m. The temperature could dip down to about 47 degrees.
For the start of the workweek Monday, showers are likely, mainly before 2 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
The weather service predicted Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, Wednesday is likely to bring showers mainly before 2 p.m., Thursday will be mostly sunny and Friday partly sunny.
Workweek high temperatures are expected to range from 54 degrees on Monday to 64 degrees on Thursday.
