Overnight freezing and daytime temperatures in the mid-30s will at times make for slippery roadways and potentially treacherous driving conditions, starting Monday and continuing through the week.

The National Weather Service put out an advisory at 7:09 p.m. Monday warning that as temperatures fall, “melted snow will refreeze. This will result in areas of black ice across the region . . . most likely on untreated or elevated surfaces.”

It added: “Motorists should be on the lookout for rapidly changing road conditions tonight.”

On Monday, as Long Island continued to dig out from a massive weekend storm, temperatures in the mid-30s were likely, with winds from the northwest shifting to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.

Conditions turned icy after sundown, clouds are increasing, and overnight lows will be in the mid-20s, the service said.

The nor’easter Saturday and into Sunday dumped more than 2 feet of snow in some areas of Long Island, the service said.

In Nassau, the final counts were 29.6 inches in Hicksville and 28 inches in Baldwin.

In Suffolk, Islip and Bay Shore shared the top spot, each with 26 inches of snow.
