Sunny skies are expected early Wednesday on Long Island, but there is a chance of showers in the afternoon and at night, forecasters said.

“There will be just a real small chance of an isolated shower,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.

“Overall, a decent day,” Hoffman said.

Because of swells from Hurricane Jose, there will be a high risk of rip currents along Atlantic beaches through Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service said.

The high temperature Wednesday should be in the high 70s with light winds, the weather service said.

Thursday should have mostly cloudy skies early in the day, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., the weather service said.

Friday will also have a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, and both weekend days should be mostly sunny, the weather service said.

Daytime high temperatures through the rest of the week should be in the high 70s, the weather service said.
