Long Island’s workweek closes with mostly sunshine and breezy northwest winds, the National Weather Service said.

Winds at 11 to 16 mph will increase to 18 to 23 mph during the afternoon Friday, the service’s Upton office said.

Daily highs get to slightly above 50 degrees.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Bruce Avery said Friday is windy and chilly, but conditions for the weekend will be decent, thanks partly to an incoming warm front.

A warm front lifts to the northeast bringing in cooler temperatures Friday night. Overnight lows are in the upper 30s, about 5 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year, the service said.

Daily highs Saturday and Sunday will then be slightly above normal behind the warm front.

Highs on Saturday push into the low 60s under a mix of sun and clouds, Avery said.

On Sunday, more mild conditions dominate; daily highs are in the mid- to upper 60s with partly sunny skies.
