The workweek following the Fourth of July weekend will be mostly dry, a bit cooler and less humid than recent days, the National Weather Service in Upton said.

Temperatures for Monday will start with highs around 80s, which is typical for this time of the year, said Faye Morrone, a meteorologist with the Weather Service.

A nice big change for the first half of the week will be the lower humidity than the past week, forecasters said. Although high humidity is expected to return Wednesday, Morrone said it will be still “less humid than what we saw” Saturday.

After Monday, temperatures for the week will generally be in the mid 80s, “nothing out of the ordinary,” Morrone said Sunday afternoon. “We will remain dry through Wednesday.”

There’s a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms starting Thursday afternoon that may continue into Friday.

“I’d keep an eye on Thursday and Friday [regarding] the details of showers and thunderstorms,” Morrone said. “Otherwise, it looks like a fairly typical summer week.”

Next Saturday will kick off the weekend hot, dry and sunny, with a high near 86, the weather service said. There’s a less than 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening.
