Long Island weather: Dry Monday with highs in mid-30s, NWS says
Long Island residents could see snow and a dramatic drop in temperatures this week as a cold front moves in, forecasters said.
Monday is expected to be dry with highs in the middle 30s, said Joe Pollina, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
There is a chance of light precipitation Tuesday, probably starting out as snow in the morning and turning into rain during the day as temperatures reach the lower 40s, he said.
The rain could turn back into snow before tapering off Wednesday.
National Weather Service meteorologist Carlie Buccola said the rain will outshine the snow.
“Not really any snow for Long Island and definitely no accumulation,” she said.
Wednesday night and the rest of the week is expected to be sunny, dry and cold — the high on Thursday will be near 17, Friday near 27 and Saturday near 29.
