Long Island weather this week has daytime highs in the 50s, NWS says
A relatively warm week lies ahead for Long Island, but it will start with a blustery overnight that will last through Monday, the National Weather Service in Islip said.
Overnight, and Monday, the winds will gusts to about 20 mph, the weather service said. But Sunday night's low of just above freezing will rebound to a high of 52 degrees Monday.
Tuesday, the winds calm down and it will be mostly sunny with a high near 50 degrees, forecasters said, and a low in the mid 30s.
Wednesday is expected to be cloudy with a high near 53 degrees and the low just in the mid 40s.
And then Thursday, temperatures will hit their peak for the week, a daytime high of 60 degrees, followed by a mostly sunny Friday in the mid 50s.
Friday night brings a 50% chance of rain that will last through Saturday, the weather service said but temperatures will stay in the mid 50s, before sliding down about ten degrees on a mostly sunny Sunday.
