Sunny skies may be in place for Tuesday, but temperatures are expected to rise only to the upper 50s before heading up Wednesday to well above normal, forecasters say.
That’s as a Canadian air mass is in place Tuesday, keeping conditions on the brisk side, the National Weather Service said. The normal high for the day at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 63 degrees.
“A little chilly today before temperatures warm up above normal through weekend,” said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.
Wednesday and the following days this week are forecast to bring sunny skies with temperatures rising to right around 70 degrees, according to the weather service.
Morning temperatures Tuesday were in the 40s, “but it feels so much colder because we’ve been having warmer weather in recent weeks,” Hoffman said.
There is no rain in the short-term forecast.
