It was a nice, warm ride for part of the work week, but look for temperatures to head down for the weekend, forecasters say.

Saturday, bringing mostly sunny skies, was expected to warm up to around 70 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, the National Weather Service said, still warmer than the normal high for the day, which is 64 degrees.

That would be the day for outdoor activities, as Saturday evening brings a chance of rain that will last through the day Sunday, when rain is likely, the weather service said.

Temperatures Sunday were expected to peak in the low 60s – the first day in the month to dip to below normal for a high.

Indeed, the weather service said, “Temperatures will run slightly below normal for Sunday and into the start of the new work week.”

That’s as both Wednesday and Thursday delivered highs in the 80s, both 16 degrees above normal for those days.
