Forecast: Thunderstorms moving through LI
A thunderstorm alert for western Suffolk and Northeastern Nassau has expired but storms are still possible later Thursday night, the National Weather Service said.
The weather service had warned of potentially severe storms earlier in the day but had said Long Island would probably not be subjected to the most severe conditions felt elsewhere in the region.
Most of the storms will be moving out by about 10 p.m., the weather service said. Overnight, after some scattered showers, it should clear by daybreak with a low in the high 40s.
Friday will be sunny, dry and cooler, with highs in the low 60s. Similar temperatures are expected for Saturday, but there is a chance of rain, the weather service said.
Easter Sunday is forecast to be sunny, with highs in the mid-50s. Monday will be similar, with a chance of rain at night, the weather service said.
Rain is also possible Tuesday, when highs in the mid-50s are again forecast.
Wednesday is expected to be sunny, with highs in the upper 50s.
