Long Island weather: Partly sunny, highs in the 80s

Look for partly sunny skies on Thursday and a moderate daytime high of 82 degrees — the fair weather a big plus as Long Island continues to recover from Tropical Storm Isaias.
However, cleanup crews may have to contend with downpours after 9 p.m., said the National Weather Service, which assessed the odds of rain at 40%.
Friday could begin with rain and thunderstorms that might continue in an off-and-on pattern. The chances of showers are 60%, the weather service said.
The high for the day is expected to be 80 degrees.
If repairs from Isaias drag on into Saturday morning, crews might be working in the rain. There is a 30% chance of showers before midday, the weather service said, with a high during the day of 83 degrees.
Sunday and Monday, however, both should be sunny and hotter, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s.
Tuesday and Wednesday should mirror each other, sharing a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms and daytime highs of 87 degrees, the weather service said.
