Long Island is in line for more beautiful autumn weather Friday and through the weekend with rain not considered a possibility until early Monday morning.

The National Weather Service on Thursday evening was predicting Friday would be sunny with a high temperature of about 69 degrees — the normal high for Oct. 1 in Islip — and a north wind blowing 8 mph.

Friday night is expected to dip into definite sweater weather with a low temperature of around 51 degrees under clear skies.

Saturday should be sunny with a high near 73 degrees and Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 76.

Overnight Sunday into Monday the Island could finally get rain as there is a 40% chance of showers after 2 a.m.

On Monday the chance of rain climbs to 60% and Tuesday the chance of rain is 40% before partly sunny skies return Wednesday, according to the weather service.
