The calendar is close to mid-November and the Long Island weekend forecast will oblige. Chilly rain is likely before 3 p.m. Friday with sunshine and seasonably cool temperatures expected Saturday and Sunday.

The pleasant weather is expected to continue through next week but temperatures dip to near freezing at night, the National Weather Service said.

Before the sun returns Saturday, Long Islanders should prepare for more rain Friday through about 3 p.m. but nothing like the drenching Thursday. Otherwise, Friday will be breezy with a high near 54 degrees and a low at night of 39.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 52 degrees and a low at night of 38. More sun is forecast Sunday, but with thermometers warming up to 58 degrees.

A low pressure system could briefly give the Island heavy rain Sunday night, when the odds of showers are 30%, the weather service said.

Monday should be breezy and sunny with a daytime high of 53 degrees and a low at night of 36.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high expected to top out at 48 degrees and a low at night of 32. Wednesday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 46 degrees and a nighttime low of 29.
