After a day of showers, thunderstorms and high winds, Long Islanders can look forward to a dry, if windy, Friday and a sun-soaked weekend, forecasters said.

As much as half an inch of rain fell on Long Island during Thursday’s tempest, Davel Johnson, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Upton, said Thursday evening, adding that the service fielded no reports of flooding despite the threat to low-lying areas in western Nassau.

But Johnson said the main inconvenience on Friday will come from strong winds.

“It’ll be quite windy with 30 or 40 mph gusts,” he said.

And meteorologists also said the skies will be cloudy amid a high temperature near 53 degrees.

The weather service expects Saturday to be sunny with a high near 52 degree with winds moderating a bit to 14 to 16 mph — but rain on Monday.

“We stay dry all the way through the weekend,” Johnson said, adding that rain is expected very late Sunday and into Monday morning.
