The first snow of 2019? Not so much.

Long Island woke up Thursday to wet roads but no meaningful accumulation, despite forecasts the previous day of a mix of light snow and rain.

After light rain in the morning, the cloudy skies should clear, the National Weather Service said. Temperatures should rise to the upper 40s with winds of 5 to 15 mph.

"It will be mild and it will be breezy," said News 12 Long Island meteorologist Pat Cavlin. "Today and tomorrow, it looks really nice."

Friday should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-40s and light winds. The normal high is about 39.

Saturday brings a "chilly soaker," Cavlin said. Rain may be heavy, with street and parkway flooding possible. Expect about a quarter to half an inch of rain.

Sunday is sunny and mild in the mid-40s, then Monday cools down with highs in the mid-30s.

So when can we expect the first measurable snow of 2019?

"I wouldn’t get hopeful for any until the second half of the month, unfortunately," Cavlin said.
