Strong northwest winds made for chillier-than-normal conditions Thursday, as well as an elevated risk of fire, the National Weather Service said.

Winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts between 30 and 35 mph, blew all day, along with minimum relative humidities between 15 and 25%, the weather service said — the perfect conditions for wildfire.

The winds will be lingering into the night, forecasters said.

"A very dry air mass will continue to combine with gusty northwest winds, resulting in an elevated risk of fire spread through early this evening. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 to 35 mph are expected, with minimum relative humidities between 15 to 25%," the weather service said in a Thursday afternoon advisory.

It will be clear and chilly Thursday night with a low of 38 degrees predicted.

Friday is also expected to be windy, with gusts close to 30 mph, and sunny, with highs around 60 degrees, the weather service said.

"Still breezy on Friday, but winds likely not as strong as today's as the offshore low weakens and drifts farther out to sea," the weather service said.

The winds will die down Friday night, and Saturday and Sunday are both expected to be sunny with highs in the low 60s, the weather service said.

But then on Monday, there is a 50% chance of rain. Showers are also possible Tuesday and Wednesday, with drier weather expected for Thursday, the weather service said.

Highs are expected to be in the upper 50s Monday. Temperatures will then rise into the mid-60s Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather service said.
