Friday is expected to be foggy before 8 a.m. and cloudy into midmorning but the skies should then clear and stay clear through the weekend.
The National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon said Thursday night on Long Island would be mostly cloudy with patchy fog after 2 a.m.
On Friday when skies clear the high temperature should be around 77 degrees. A north wind of about 6 mph will become an east wind in the afternoon.
Friday night will be mostly clear with a low temperature of around 63 degrees, the weather service said.
The forecast calls for both Saturday and Sunday to be sunny with a high near 84 degrees Saturday and a high near 81 degrees Sunday.
Come the start of the new workweek Monday, however, showers are considered likely, mainly after 2 p.m. The chance of precipitation is listed as 60%.
Tuesday has a 30% chance of showers before 8 a.m., before mostly sunny skies return.
Wednesday and Thursday are also expected to be sunny.
The expected high temperature will be about 78 degrees on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and about 81 degrees on Thursday, according to the weather service.
