The high temperatures should reach the mid-60s, possibly the low 70s in parts of northern Nassau County if enough sunlight breaks through, News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.  Credit: Newsday

Thursday afternoon delivered blue skies and breaks of sun on Long Island, but look for showers  by evening, and potentially even a thunderstorm, forecasters say.

We're "stuck in this pattern," of unsettled conditions, said Rich Von Ohlen, News 12 meteorologist.

Friday, then, is “a jacket day,” he said, meaning highs in the 50s, along with cloudy skies, sprinkles and drizzle.

Long Island can expect this “nuisance wet weather going into the weekend,” said Rich Hoffman, also a News 12 meteorologist.

More showery weather is expected Saturday, with rain likely overnight into Sunday, meaning wet going for that day's runners in Long Island's 46th annual marathon.

And now, here it comes — mostly sunny skies for Monday and Tuesday, with temps in the mid-60s.
