Thursday’s overcast skies should slowly clear, setting the stage for mostly sunny weather through Sunday — though Monday’s Labor Day holiday looks mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, forecasters said.
“Dry, warmer and less humid weather returns to the region today and tonight as high pressure builds to the southwest,” the National Weather Service said. “This will result in plenty of sunshine and temperatures near to a few degrees above normal.”
Thursday’s high should reach 82 degrees. That is the same temperature predicted for Friday.
Saturday, the weather service predicted, will be a bit cooler at 78 degrees.
Sunday — the first day of meteorological fall — will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-70s, News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said. A few sprinkles are possible Sunday night.
Labor Day is also predicted to be cloudy with a chance of showers, especially later in the day, Hoffman said. The temperature should rise into the upper 70s.
Tuesday, however, should be mostly sunny, with a high of 78 degrees.
The sun should also rule Wednesday’s skies, bringing the high up to about 82 degrees, the weather service said.
