Long Islanders can anticipate a sunny summer weekend but may have to endure a bit more rain Friday.

The National Weather Service said on Thursday there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 2 p.m. The high temperature is expected to be about 95 degrees and there should be an 8 mph north wind becoming east in the afternoon.

Friday night should be partly cloudy with a low around 73.

The weather service said the sun will come out Saturday and should stick around until Tuesday, with high temperatures at 88 Saturday, 93 Sunday, 95 Sunday and 92 Tuesday.

While there is a 30% chance of more downpours after noon Tuesday, the sun should return to rule Wednesday‘s skies, the weather service said. A high near 88 degrees is expected Wednesday.
