Long Island weather: Warmer temps, but on-and-off rain this week
On-and-off rain conditions, along with above-normal temperatures, will likely continue Tuesday night through New Year's Eve, the National Weather Service said.
Tuesday night is expected to bring a 60% chance of rain between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. Wednesday with temperatures reaching near 45, the weather service said. Wednesday's odds of morning rain then dwindle to 30%, with highs remaining in the mid-40s.
Showers likely return overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with a low of 40 degrees, rising to a high of 48 Thursday afternoon, forecasters said.
There is a 40% chance of rain during the day Thursday, which decreases to 20% at night.
The last day of the year, Friday, will be mostly sunny with a high near 50. Come Friday night, there's a 30% chance of showers, the weather service said.
The new year looks likely to start with some rain: There's an 80% chance of it on New Year's Day, the weather service said.
