Sunshine and warmer temperatures will continue to dominate the weather through Wednesday before showers, possible thunderstorms and gusty winds arrive Thursday, the National Weather Service says.

"An approaching cold front on Thursday will result in widespread moderate to locally heavy rainfall along with gusty winds. A widespread 1-1.5" of rainfall is expected, with locally higher totals possible. While widespread flooding is not expected at this time, there is potential for localized flash flooding," the weather service said in a Tuesday forecast warning of hazardous conditions.

Daytime temperatures Wednesday should run around 70 through Thursday before retreating to the mid-60s for the rest of the seven day period. Then, as high pressure heads out to the Atlantic, clouds will start sweeping in, as the storm-creating front starts making itself known overnight and into Thursday, the weather service said, with winds gusting up to 28 mph.

By afternoon, Friday, the sun should return. “The front (moves) through the area Thursday night such and by Friday morning, windy conditions subside and the area dries out,” the weather service said.

Clear skies will stay around for most of the weekend but there is a chance of showers Sunday night that could last into Monday.
