The unseasonable warmth of this Autumn week on Long Island is expected to continue, forecasters said, before a weekend that feels a little bit more like classic Fall.

Tuesday's peak temperature in the high 60s will be followed by only slightly cooler daytime highs Wednesday and Thursday. Those highs are about 10 degrees over what's considered normal for this time of year.

But Thursday night rain makes an appearance overnight and the winds kick up to about 20 mph, the National Weather Service said.

Showers are considered very likely to dominate Friday, although the high will continue to be in the 60s, forecasters said. Up to one inch of rain is expected, the weather service said.

Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to be bright and clear. But weekend temperatures will gradually cool, peaking in the upper 50s during the day and slowly sliding to the low 50s by Monday.

Weekend lows are expected to be in the upper 30s, the weather service said, although above freezing.
