Long Island weather: Rain chance overnight, dry Wednesday

Partly sunny skies are in the forecast for Tuesday, June 21, 2016, with "strong storms around the Island through 8 a.m." becoming more isolated for the rest of the day, said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist. Credit: News 12
The potential for unsettled weather continues Tuesday evening, with a slight chance — 20 percent — of showers and thunderstorms into the overnight hours, forecasters say.
At Long Island MacArthur Airport, a Tuesday high of 86 degrees was recorded, with no precipitation, according to the National Weather Service’s Upton office. Overnight lows mostly around the low to mid 60s are expected.
A look at Wednesday, though, brings drier air, with a forecast for mostly sunny skies, with highs in the low 80s, the weather service said.
Better enjoy it, as it’s back to rain-mode for Thursday — a 70 percent chance.
